The Power of Intention

The Power of Intention

Story-time folks!

I wish to share a story that for me illustrates the power of our Intention. It was a journey in remembering our Magic - our individual and collective magic, and a reminder for me to weave this into my daily life more and more.

It was two years ago, when - after several months of various appointments and a long drawn out wait period - I was finally about to attend the specialist appointment all this effort was for. This specialist would be the fifth practitioner I was seeing in an attempt to have my Mirena removed.

I’d had my Mirena in for five years and upon previous attempts been told that the string couldn’t be found; then, the string was tangled up; and then when someone finally found the string, upon tugging at it believed the uterus had somewhat engulfed it.

I went into this specialist appointment upon GP referral recommendation. Less than a minute on the examination bed, my legs in stirrups and the specialist concluded she couldn’t see the string.

The only way to remove it, I was told, was via surgery. Surgery that would not only cost thousands of dollars but require me to be put under.

I was devastated.

I left the clinic feeling completely defeated.

I allowed a big cry release, holding my womb as all the poking and prodding and even having my legs in stirrups bought back various trauma flashbacks.

“Why are you putting yourself through this, just have the surgery” is what people said to me.

And I momentarily considered this.

But even still, after all that time, several NOs and plenty of “it’s too hard / difficult / impossible” - there remained a quiet determination: an inner knowing that there HAD to be another way - a way that didn’t require surgery.

It was time to change tact.

I bought in what I know best - my body-dialoguing, expressive arts, spirit-led ways - to BE with this part of myself.

I INTENTIONALLY spent time with my womb. I carved out sacred space, got curious and I spoke to that part within me.

What was I holding onto?

What was I scared of?

What fears were present?

I dived deep into the Ho’oponopono practice

I’m sorry

Please forgive me

Thank you

I love you

I gave tender somatic touch to my body, allowed myself to move, wrote out stream of consciousness and turned it into art.

After a month of this intentional practice: it was time.

The energy around the Mirena had changed.

I searched again online for a specialist and this time found someone who was more aligned.

I called upon my sistas to pray for me, to visualise with me the Mirena being removed smoothly without surgery.

And on the day of the appointment, my beloved warrior sis and I went in charged UP.

It was coming out THAT day. It had to.

I share this story because we forget our magic.

We doubt what we are capable of.

There are multiple forces, all the time, attempting to numb our intuition, take away our agency.

We get silenced, we get told things aren’t possible.

My Mirena WAS removed that day.

It was removed with the help of localised numbing and the sheer intention and determination of the four people in the room that day, and the energetic backing of two handfuls of others sending their love and prayers from afar.

I needed this win.

I needed this reminder of what is possible.

As my dear friend always reminds me,
