Girls Shine Bright is a creative expression self-development program, offered to young women. It can be tailored for participants between 8-18 years of age.
Run as an 8-week term program, participants explore wellbeing themes through a different artistic medium each week in a fun safe heart felt space.
*The offering can also be tailored to a focused group workshop.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The term program is an opportunity to gather with other young women in a fun supported and creative space. Participants are encouraged to explore the weekly theme in a creative way with the purpose of personal growth. The activities will be done both individually and in groups, in an inclusive welcoming environment to foster friendship and build community.
Each session will begin with an opening circle, an introduction to the theme, a creative process, and a closing circle or reflection and sharing.
Themes include:
Identity ~ Change ~ Inspiration & Goal setting ~Emotions ~ Friendship ~Gratitude ~
Creative Modalities will include:
Drawing ~ Painting ~ Creative & reflective writing ~ Clay sculpture ~ Movement ~ Body awareness ~ Meditation ~
OUTCOMES:
- Equipping young women with key self-development and self-compassion tools to become strong women in the community
- A sense of belonging to a supportive group where you are encouraged to be yourself and explore life creatively
- Increased self-confidence and acceptance
- Enhanced resilience to better deal with challenges
- Techniques and processes for self-regulation

- Inspiration and belief in own creative abilities

A Tuesday afterschool program, running 4.15PM – 5.45PM from 12th February to 2nd April will be held at Craig Family Centre, 7 Samarinda Avenue, Ashburton.
